What does Rain + Dirt =? The start of our day at the Hatsume Fair, at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, this event occurred on March 22 & 23, 2009. The sight of dark clouds and the threat of rain wasn’t enough to keep us away from the Hatsume Fair.

There were many different types of entertainment offered there, one of which was a guy that had a cart that held things he used for various tricks, like origami, or a fan that would change its appearances.

There was also foam sword battles, Ronin Taiko (a drums show,) cosplay contest, and best of all we got to meet Naruto! (Please, note my sarcasm.) This year Anime and Manga dealers set up shop at the fair.

You could even see Anime Screenings if you could find the time after taking a detour to walk around the Gardens, despite our love for Anime and Manga we couldn’t help being charmed by the tranquil beauty of the Morikami Garden’s.

We found two graves in the gardens, and the gravestones were very striking, there is so much care and attention given to them. The highlight of the day had to be the demonstration for a martial arts school, where people of various ages and skills, display what they’ve learned at their martial arts school.

The highlight wasn’t their skills, but an adorable little boy that showed off his own skills by flipping the other boys on their backs (although they did make it glaringly obvious that they were just purposely throwing themselves.)

Anyway, overall the day was a lot of fun and we look forward to going again next year, hopefully there will be more things related to Anime and Manga at the next Fair!

Check out these Picture’s from the Fair!
