In Queen’s Blade every four years there is a competition featuring the greatest warriors in order for a new queen to be crowned. The first episode introduces
female characters dressed in revealing armor. Princess Reina Vance, Daughter of Earl Vance, is a warlike noblewoman who is next in line to succeed the family. She has run away from home and her father has spread the word on a reward for her safe return. Reina meets Risty, a bandit of desert justice, who saves Reina from Mellona, a bunny girl that shoots acid from her breast, and returns Leina to the castle for her reward. There you meet her sisters Elina, commander of the imperial, and Claudette, the lightning general, all whom seem stronger and prettier then Reina. Nanael is an angel that observes the greatest warriors battle for the Queen’s Blade. She has been watching over Reina and Risty to see who they will challenge. Risty never received her reward and instead was thrown in a cell by Claudette. The bunny girl and Reina have another encounter but at the castle this time and although Reina’s counter-attacks were weak she manages to defeat her by making the bunny girl implode in her own acid. Meanwhile Risty escapes and steals anything she can find and encounters Claudette as she leaves the castle. Sadly we don’t get to see them fight because the explosion distracts them and Risty leaves. I would have liked to see more of Claudette’s power and fighting skills for they show you a glimpse of her controlling lightning earlier in the episode. The end of the episode leaves you with the angel upset that she did not witness any ones fight.
The second episode explains a little more information on Risty and her reasons for wanting the Queen’s Blade. This is to be able to protect the orphan children even if it means she has to keep stealing from others. Two other characters are introduced, Tomoe and Shizuka. Tomoe is a priestess that was chosen to participate in Queens Blade by her shrine maidens and their motive is for peace and to protect the island of Hinomoto. The shrine was attacked by Koumaningun. Tomoe fights well in these scenes making her look skillful but devastated for not being able to do enough for her shrine maidens that were killed. She then acquires the sword Kuchinawa, which helps her kill off the Toad monster. Meanwhile, Shizuka also fight well in defeating the leader of Koumaningun. The episode ends on Tomoe and Shizuka deciding to go after Queen’s blade.
The third episode introduces Echidna, an elven mercenary, who is hired by Reina’s father to take back Reina to Vance castle. Echidna follows Reina & Risty and steals their traveling money to later make a deal with Risty on how she can have all the treasure she finds in a hotel vault in exchange for not interfering with her job on Reina. Risty of course agrees feeling a bit guilty as she steals the treasure. Echidna’s battle with Reina in the arena is every males dream to watch, for example, Echidna’s snake bites Reina’s breast and poisons her, Echidna feels on her and then kisses her with the antidote. The episode ends with Reina being let go and going back to the room to find Risty gone. She cries and leaves to continue her journey.
In the fourth episode we learn that Claudette isn’t the legitimate daughter of Earl Vance, maybe that explains why she is not next in line to succeed the family. There is also a flashback on their childhood where Reina had run away from home and Claudette saves her from a fall, it also seems that Reina loves her sister and receives more attention. Nanael tries to stall Reina a little on her journey so Claudette can catch up to Reina in hopes to see a fight between them. Reina encounters Claudette and makes it clear to her that she does not want to be the Earls dear daughter anymore and wants to fend for herself. They start to fight and the angel puts a magic ring that surrounds them making the fight to be seen as a sphere around the world for others to watch the first battle of Queen’s Blade. During the fighting scenes we finally see Claudette’s skills and ability to control lightning, and of course Reina has not yet improved her fighting skills by this episode. Reina was defeated by her sister and the ledge where she was sitting on began to tumble down and Claudette quickly grabbed her hand. Reina begged her sister to let her go if she really cares for her, and while Claudette had a flashback on the same situation they are in now, the episode ends without explaining if she had let go or if Reina somehow managed to escape safely.
In the fifth episode it is known that Reina survived the fall down to the river and was captured by the revived queen of Amara, Menace, who is trying to rebuild the kingdom she once ruled. We also learn that Mellona is still alive and has the ability to shape shift. Menace casts a spell on Reina to become her servant. Then Menace sees Tomoe and Shizuka approaching her pyramid and decides she wants to test their skills by sending Reina to fight them, that will help her choose which one to keep as a servant. We actually get to see Reina fight well while under the spell. The angel comes again and declares it a battle making the world watch again. Reina fights the spell out of her and the bridge she was on collapses down making her fall into water. After Menace’s anger lets out a powerful force that causes the pyramid to collapse, everyone inside struggles to get out but the episode ends with only Tomoe & Shizuka made it out of the pyramid leaving the angel & Reina whereabouts unknown.
In almost every episode there is a new participant of Queen’s Blade introduced and their reasons for wanting the crown. The Characters look well drawn and voluptuous. For example, in fighting scenes you will see the female characters with a shirt torn and their breast exposed. Guys here is an anime you’ll be fond of and girls if you can see passed the nudity scenes and focus on the girl power story line then go for it and watch it.
