Review:

If you are capable of suspending reality for a little while, you might actually love this manga. It’s about a teenager called Oga that finds a dead body swimming downstream and out of that body comes out a baby. This baby is the son of a demon and was sent to the human world to ultimately destroy all humans. As I was reading the chapters that have been translated thus far, I could not help wondering how this baby manages to cling onto Oga’s back and yet he never falls?

I can’t deny that I badly wanted to jump into the manga and whisk the baby away to a safer place. Also. to put some clothes on him, he doesn’t even wear diapers (you’ll find out why if you read it)! The best thing about this manga though is the relationship between the baby and Oga; the way that they relate to each other is really cool…

Oga at first is a person that doesn’t care for anyone except for his one and only friend (Furuichi) and his family. He loves fighting with people, and to see this tough guy caring for this baby is really sweet. I sometimes think that if Baby-BL was a real human baby he would be dead after being in Oga’s care for a few minutes.

The interesting thing about this manga is that the main character isn’t really a force of good or evil, he is just a normal guy that enjoys beating people up and getting into trouble. The heroine, Hilda isn’t a good person at all; she wants to destroy all of mankind!

One strange thing though is that this manga is supposed to be a comedy and although I did laugh a few times I wouldn’t necessarily call this a comedy, most jokes can’t be translated adequately from Japanese to English, I guess. Or maybe its just that I don’t find seeing a baby in danger, humorous? Go figure…
